AmeriCorps in Schools

During the school year, our AmeriCorps members serve in Lawson Elementary in the Pulaski County Special School District. AmeriCorps members tutor, mentor and provide social-emotional learning programs to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. Members support teachers and students every school day and also provide Character Building through Organized Play (CBOP) with all students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Students also participate in teambuilding and other activities that build stronger relationships among students, AmeriCorps members, and teachers. Periodically throughout the school year, the 3rd-5th grade students spend time at the camp during experiential learning days or overnight events that focus on enhancing the school curriculum with hands on learning.
